‘Losing My Mind’ Remix Contest Winners Announced (+ my 10 Favourite Remixes!)
The decision has finally been made. After receiving over 300 finished remixes and over 900 people taking part in the remix contest, I can reveal the winner of the competition. Additionally, since there were so many good remixes, I actually want to present you my top 10 favourite remixes of the competition.
Let’s start the countdown.
10. KIQMOTO Remix
Absolutely loved the melody in this one. The playback is so different from the original, that it can easily be transformed into an own original track. And it definitely has the potential, so I would advise to do so.
9. Jay Turio Remix
Proper Tech-Trance take on the original. Love the creative work and the drop after the breakdown is really great. Keep it up, Jay! Good things will be coming your way if you continue.
8. Taglo Remix
Finally a deep progressive remix! Absolutely loved the vibe of this one. Breakdown was slightly too long for my taste and melodies didn’t fit my taste 100% with the vocals, but the playback itself is amazing. Taglo, you should definitely make this an original production of yours!
7. Myde Remix
A very creative uplifting trance take on the original. Creative and uplifting is a rare combination these days but Myde really surprised me here. There is a great melody and chord progression change in the breakdown that takes you by surprise. Works very well. Keep it up!
6. MaCiD Remix
Proper 138 bpm banger! Love the acids and the breakdown was probably my favourite breakdown of ALL remixes. Good things will be coming your way, MaCiD, you have lots of talent!
5. Jeyenn Remix
A commercial version of “Losing My Mind”! Loving it. Great groove and beat, interesting sounds, good structure. Overall extremely professional.
4. Triode Remix
Very good bigroom version of “Losing My Mind”. Lots of great ideas in there, maybe a few too many but that’s really it. Overall very professional. Great mixing, structure, sound-design and so on.
3. Eugenio Tokarev Remix
Lovely more uplifting take on the original. Very professionally produced. Overall this convinced the team as it really delivers. It keeps the original vibe while giving it a more trance twist. Loving it!
2. Paul Arcane Remix
Paul Arcane already won the ‘Fight Your Fears’ competition back in 2015 with his remix of ‘Dare To Dream’ (also featuring Katty Heath). He delivered again with his remix and what a remix it is. Excellent chord variations from the originals as well as great overall vibe. A bit more Anjunabeats than the other remixes. We definitely liked that!
1.Dream Dancer Remix
This is the best remix of the competition for me. And a big surprise. I have never heard of Dream Dancer but his remix absolutely did it for me. From the first minute I was spellbound.
Honourable Mentions
Here are a few other great remixes that I didn’t want to leave out as they did great as well:
- Dj Timur Giniyatov (Drum’n’Bass): Haha, I was waiting for a remix in the Drum’n’Bass style. The drops really convinced me. The breakdowns not so much unfortunately.
- Nic Toms (Bigroom): Loved the drop although I thought it may have been a bit too hectic. But overall, very nice idea!
- Yelow (Uplifting Trance): Great proper uplifting trance version of ‘Losing My Mind’ and the best amongst those which were submitted.
- Xenaan (Chill Out): Pretty cool chill out take on the original. Definitely love the vibe of it.
- Spotlight (Dubstep): Very cool dubstep remix. Love the second drop.
Final Thoughts
The remix competition showed me once again how much talent there is out there. This is a message to all upcoming artists: Don’t give up, keep on perfecting your craft and you will succeed. It’s just a matter of time. 🙂 Happy producing days to y’all!
